NightOwl Website Privacy Policy

This policy applies to trynightowl.app, its public pages, support form, newsletter, and related website services. It does not govern the NightOwl macOS application, Apple, or third-party websites that publish their own privacy notices.

The separate NightOwl App Privacy Policy explains how the Mac app handles local settings, Screen Recording permission, window metadata, purchases, and diagnostics.

When you use the support form, we receive the name, email address, message, and other information you choose to submit. The protected administrator area may store request status, follow-up priority, private notes, reply drafts, delivery history, and timestamps needed to provide support.

If you join the NightOwl newsletter, we store your email address, signup source, signup page, subscription status, and email delivery history. Every marketing email includes an unsubscribe option.

Please do not place passwords, payment-card details, health information, or other sensitive information in support messages.

Hosting, content-delivery, security, and database providers may process ordinary web request information, including IP address, approximate region, browser and device type, operating system, requested page, referring page, timestamps, response status, and security events.

First-party analytics records page views, browsing sessions, referring websites, campaign tags, approximate country, device category, browser family, operating-system family, and clicks on published download buttons. The server converts network and browser information into a one-way visitor key and does not store the raw network address or full browser user-agent in the analytics record. Do Not Track browsers are excluded from page-view analytics.

Download-link activity records the configured link label, platform, version, and timestamp. It does not tell us whether you completed a download, installed NightOwl, or made a purchase.

The public website stores your light or dark theme choice in browser local storage and uses session storage for a temporary first-party analytics session identifier and to control newsletter-popup frequency. The public website does not use advertising cookies or cross-site behavioral advertising tools.

The support form uses a server-signed challenge, duplicate detection, replay protection, and rate limits. Network addresses and challenge tokens may be converted into one-way hashes used to prevent automated or excessive submissions. Raw challenge answers and tokens are not stored with support submissions.

• Prevent spam, fraud, challenge replay, and misuse.
• Comply with legal obligations and protect NightOwl, users, and others.

We do not sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. Information may be processed by vendors that host, secure, and operate the website or deliver email on our behalf; disclosed when required by valid law or needed to protect rights and safety; transferred in a business transaction subject to appropriate safeguards; or shared when you direct or consent to it.

Website infrastructure includes Lovable Cloud and Supabase for managed hosting, database, authentication, storage, and server functions; Resend for email delivery; infrastructure that may include Cloudflare; and Google Fonts for font delivery. Their notices are available from Lovable, Supabase, Resend, Cloudflare, and Google.

First-party analytics records are retained for up to thirteen months. Support and newsletter records are kept only as long as reasonably necessary to provide the requested service, maintain appropriate history, prevent abuse, resolve disputes, and meet legal obligations. Infrastructure providers retain their records according to their own schedules and applicable law. We delete or de-identify information when it is no longer reasonably needed.

• Use the unsubscribe link in any newsletter to stop future marketing email.
• Clear this website’s local or session storage through your browser controls.
• Contact us to request access, correction, or deletion of support or newsletter information associated with your email address.
• Enable Do Not Track in your browser to opt out of first-party page-view analytics.

Depending on where you live and subject to legal exceptions, you may have additional rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, object to, or receive a copy of personal information, withdraw consent, or complain to a privacy regulator. We may need to verify your identity before completing a request.

We use reasonable safeguards including restricted administrator access, database security policies, server-side form verification, rate limits, and one-way anti-abuse identifiers. No system is perfectly secure. NightOwl and its providers may process information in the United States and other countries, using legally recognized safeguards where required.

The website is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect a child’s personal information without any consent required by law. The website may link to Apple and other third-party services. We do not control their privacy practices, so review their notices before providing information.

We may update this policy as the website, providers, or law changes. We will publish the revised policy and effective date here. Questions and privacy requests can be submitted through the NightOwl support form. Please identify your request as a “Privacy Request.” The NightOwl developer is responsible for the information described in this policy.
